Finally ready to ride…and now it’s raining!!

As I mentioned in my last post about 10 days ago, I had the flu, which turned into a sinus infection and bronchitis. I went to the doc, got put on some meds — one of which was an anti-biotic I had never taken before — and I was looking forward to recovery. Well, it didn’t quite go so well.

I was put on the meds week before last on Thursday. By Saturday just 2 days later, my bronchitis and sinus infection was feeling better, but my stomach was in knots. The next day, Sunday, it was cramping severely and I couldn’t even keep down liquids. I had to take Monday off work because it felt so bad. I muscled through Tuesday and Wednesday at work but it was getting worse. I had to call in sick again on Thursday because it was cramping really bad. My stomach was really bloated — so bad that I could barely button my pants — and hard as a rock. I new something was up so I went back to the doctor. We figured I was having a bad reaction to the anti-biotic that he put me on and he told me to stop taking it immediately. It would appear the anti-biotic was the culprit, as I finally started to feel better on Saturday this past weekend. I’m still coughing a little and my chest is still slightly congested, but I am finally starting to feel normal now.

So let’s see: I got sick on Tuesday 11/25 and am just now feeling better on Tuesday 12/23. So that only the last 4 weeks down the tubes. Oy! What a month. I tell you, no exercise in the last 4 weeks — I feel like a huge lump of worthless. I’m hoping I can get something going this weekend.

Also, Dad has the whole week off work and I’m off for the rest of the week. We were planning on going on a ride tomorrow and there’s an 80% chance of rain. Crikey my luck is awful sometimes. Dad and I rarely get the chance to ride together anymore. We finally get a great opportunity and now this. According to weather.com, there’s only a 30% chance of rain through most of the morning. I may try to get up a bit early and knock out a ride before it starts. Here’s to health and a new year. Sorry, but I’m ready to put this one behind me. Until next time, seek your bliss.

Ride lots…
