Happy Memorial Day…

…and Happy Birthday to yours truly!! Yes, it’s true–I am a year older. It was a pretty cool birthday, even though some really crazy weather made it so I couldn’t ride until yesterday. A thunderstorm rolled in on Thursday and hung around until Sunday. It’s late May in SoCal, what gives?? Oh well, the weekend was good just the same.

I took Thursday and Friday off work and we had a party for Spencer and I on Saturday (since it was his birthday too). The party was fun and I got some cool presents. Sunday, Tonya and I went out for an early dinner and then went to see Iron Man. Wow–that is an awesome movie. I give it 2 thumbs up. I HIGHLY recommend seeing it.

Monday I met up with a few of the guys and busted out an awesome ride at Daley Ranch. For whatever reason, I hadn’t ridden there since January. I almost forgot how much fun it is. I need to ride there more often.

After my ride at Daley, we went over to Jen and Matt’s for a little shin-dig. It was a Memorial Day BBQ sure, but mostly a going away party since they are moving back to South Carolina in a month or so. I really enjoy hanging out with Jen–I have always felt fortunate that we have such a close relationship (a lot of brothers and sisters aren’t close). Matt is a cool guy too and I’m going to miss them when they move. Plus, with little Vinny really starting to show his own unique personality, seeing them go is going to be hard.

My sister’s friends are really cool too. It sucks that I only just met them back in March and have only hung out with them a few times. They are really nice and chillin’ with them is always fun. My sis’s friend Anglea in particular is really funny. She is very quick witted and my boys like to hang out with her kids, so that’s a plus too.

Also, I have mentioned before that my sis is friends with Pauley Perrette, who plays Abby Sciuto on the CBS TV show NCIS (see post from March 2). Well, when we met Pauley the first time, I had never seen an episode of NCIS (I don’t watch much TV) so I wasn’t starstruck by any stretch, but I did think it was cool. Since we met Pauley then, Tonya and I decided to start watching the show.

We were both immediately hooked. I am a HUGE fan. It is an extremely well written show and the cast is amazing. I truly think it’s one of the best shows on TV–EVER!! So, Pauley was able to come to the get together yesterday and I was pretty excited this time. I didn’t want to smother her with questions, but hey–I’m a huge fan of the show now. Just like last time, she was very nice and very accomodating of all of our questions. She’s a fan of the show herself and watches it every week too, so she enjoys talking about it–but not in a conceited way at all. She told us some really cool behind the scenes info and answered all of our questions for quite a long time. I don’t know, it’s hard to describe. It was just too cool.

Anyway, she gave me a signed photo of her for my birthday (one of the high quality, studio publicity 8×10’s). Later, she mentioned she had a bunch of stuff from her set trailer in the back of her car since they just wrapped shooting for the season. We all went out to her car and she was showing us some pretty cool stuff. She also gave Tonya and I an actual complete script from the show, from this past season. She signed it and everything. I thought that was just too awesome for words.

Before she left, she was also kind enough to take a picture with Tonya, Sydney and I.

All in all it was a really fun 5 day weekend. I have to work next weekend but have several rides planned over the next week. Plus, the weather is finally getting nice again and is forecasted to keep getting better. I tell ya, life is good.

Ride lots…

That was such a fun day!! It was too funny that the boys disappeared into the backyard to play their personal video games, and the only time we saw them was when they came in to feed. Heheehehe.
